This article argues that William Twining in Globalisation and Legal Scholarship calls for the adoption of a revolutionary/enabling process and a mindset ready for the revolution of jurists. The process and mindset identified result from a global perspective that includes examining time, disciplines, cultures, and legal structures to challenge the underlying and unchallenged assumptions of our legal theories. The paper uses the work of two other authors, Thomas Samuel Kuhn and Doris Lessing, to develop the Twining process and identify the deeper purpose of adopting the proposed process. The paper concludes by applying this Julingian process to income tax in order to question the currently accepted/assumed purpose of income tax and to develop an alternative purpose (and the implications of this alternative purpose) for income tax.
