Western Law offers students the opportunity to develop practical skills and gain valuable practical legal experience through various clinics and programs that support the community. COVID-19 PROTOCOLS: The Office of the Community Legal Service is currently restricting accessibility to the public. New Admission DatesCommunity Legal Services is currently accepting new clients for those in need of criminal or provincial assistance. We are also able to help with academic calls for Western and Fanshawe students. Currently, we are not able to represent the family, landlord or tenant or small claims court cases. October 2022 Community Legal Services (CLS) is both a community legal clinic and a clinical training program run by Western University`s Faculty of Law and funded by Legal Aid Ontario, the Law Foundation of Ontario, the Fanshawe Student Union and the Western University Students Council and Faculty of Law. A new partnership between St. Joseph`s, @londonfamilycc provides @lpsmediaoffice & @CAS_LM a coordinated, trauma-informed space for abused children and youth. Organizations typically involved in PBSC include public interest and non-profit organizations, courts, legal clinics, and lawyers working pro bono on a particular case. Sport Solutions Clinic: Provides western law students with the opportunity to help Canadian athletes prevent and resolve sport-related legal issues. The Sport Solution Clinic is the only program of its kind in North America and is available to all AthletesCAN members. Today, we offer 13 different service areas and take on a variety of coordination tasks. The London Family Court Clinic is a non-profit organisation dedicated to supporting children and families involved in the legal system. CLS provides free legal advice to low-income people in the London community, as well as students at Fanshawe College and Western University. The services are provided by more than 125 law students per academic year, working under the supervision of experienced lawyers. Please note: Due to funding cuts in the provinces, services have decreased. CLS no longer offers assistance with wills, powers of attorney, immigration authorities or the Criminal Injuries Compensation Board (CICB) and has reduced existing criminal law services. For parents, services such as custody and visitation checks and coordination services for parenting, we support families in the event of separation and divorce. However, additional services are available. Western Business Law Clinic: Provides pro bono legal advice to small start-ups. With the exception of administrative costs, the clinic offers its services free of charge. All work is reviewed and approved by a mentor lawyer.
