Nicole is a systems litigation attorney and advocacy lawyer for the Michigan Elder Justice Initiative. Previously, Nicole was supervising attorney and counsel for the legal services staff of the Lansing office in south-central Michigan, where she handled foreclosure, consumer and older cases for low-income and elderly clients. Nicole also served as an attorney with the Michigan Protection and Advocacy Service, where she served adult clients with disabilities in civil rights cases. In her current role, Nicole focuses on systemic issues facing older clients and people with disabilities, such as guardianship, long-term care and public services. Nicole holds a B.A. from James Madison College at Michigan State University and a J.D. from the University of Michigan School of Law, where she was Editor-in-Chief of the Michigan Law Review. Legal Counsel for the Elderly advocates for the dignity and rights of older adults in Washington, D.C., by providing free legal services to those in need — and by empowering, advocating for, and protecting low-income seniors. In her current role, Alison is involved in systemic advocacy for the rights of older adults and persons with disabilities on issues related to individual rights, health care, public services and elder abuse. She is also a resource for lawyers and other lawyers across the state on a variety of topics of particular interest to older adults and people with disabilities, and often works with state and national lawyers. Allison Elder is the Director of Legal Services at the San Antonio River Authority.

In this role, she manages the legal needs of river authority and is a member of the management team. His responsibilities at SARA include regulatory compliance in the areas of contracting, construction, environmental regulation, risk management and record keeping. Alison is the Executive Counsel for the Michigan Elder Justice Initiative and Senior Counsel for the Michigan Poverty Law Program. She is also counsel for the Crime Victims Legal Assistance Project-Elder Justice. Since 1998, she has taught law at the University of Michigan School of Law, where she is also a Public Interest and Public Service Fellow. Previously, Alison was an attorney at Michigan Protection and Advocacy and co-director of the Elderly Law Project and director of planning at Community Legal Services in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Alison also taught for seven years at the Associate Faculty of the University of Pennsylvania School of Law. Alison worked as a clerk in the U.S.

District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The practice of economic security and health care works through advanced legal advice to ensure that seniors receive the income, benefits and services to which they are entitled. Dan is a supervising attorney and ombudsman for MI Health Link. He was the lead author of the Attorney`s Guide to Michigan`s new MI Health Link (MHL) program and has been an attorney with the Michigan Elder Justice Initiative since February 2015. In his role as MHL Ombudsman, he will advance the MHLO program`s dual objective of advocating for individual and systemic rights. Dan has experience in legal issues related to housing rights, disability rights, immigration and human trafficking. He received his J.D. from the University of Michigan School of Law in 2014 and his B.A. from the University of Michigan in 2009. LCE employees and volunteers support more than 6,000 seniors each year with financial benefits totaling more than $16 million.

More than 800 LCE volunteers, interns and fellows provide more than 20,000 hours of pro bono service each year. Matthew is the lawyer for the Ombudsman for Home and Community Services Program. Prior to joining MEJI, Matt worked as an attorney for Lakeshore Legal Aid and handled a variety of legal matters including divorce, custody, landlord-tenant, Social Security complaints, guardianship and conservatory matters, and Medicaid appeals. In addition, Matt has acted as a civil litigator for over 15 years in cases involving no-fault claims, car accidents, medical malpractice and other related matters. During this time, Matt successfully tried numerous jury and arbitral tribunal cases to reach a verdict. Matt has currently been a member of the Advisory Board of the William Booth Legal Aid Clinic in Detroit, Michigan for over 20 years. Matt is also a certified CASA (court-appointed special counsel) for care in Oakland County. CASA defends neglected or abused children who have been removed from their homes and are wards of Oakland County Court.

Matt received his B.A. from Michigan State University in 1994 and his J.D. from Detroit-Mercy University in 1997. Tammy is the Training Coordinator for the Prevention of Elder Abuse. She is working on a government-funded PREVNT grant project to promote the prevention of elder abuse in care facilities. As part of this project, Tammy will provide training to nursing home staff and support working groups that focus on educating and empowering employees to prevent abuse in their facilities. Tammy has extensive experience in abuse prevention and training. She worked for over 6 years in the Child Abuse Prevention Department at Child and Family Charities, primarily as a parent coach in the Foster Care Support Visits Program. Previously, Tammy was a full-time instructor and territorial training specialist in the Health and Safety Division of the American Red Cross.

Tammy is thrilled that her position includes her two passions: abuse prevention and training. She is a Certified Family Life Educator with a Master of Family Studies from Spring Arbor University. In | spain For more than 45 years, seniors` legal counsel has championed the dignity and rights of seniors in Washington, D.C., by providing free legal and social work services to those in need. Our work focuses on the most important aspects of a senior`s life, including housing, economic security, self-determination, and health and safety. We impact the lives of nearly 10,000 people each year and advocate for city-wide reforms of laws, regulations and long-term care facilities. Michael previously worked at the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) as Director of the Long-Term Care Policy Section, which is responsible for Medicaid policies for care facilities, level of care, palliative care, home health, private nursing, brain injury services, and the MI Choice Waiver Program. Prior to joining MDHHS, Michael worked at the Wayne State University Developmental Disabilities Institute, leading projects to support the empowerment of people with disabilities. Michael has also worked for local organizations that provide housing and professional services to people with disabilities. Ahnuh is a local long-term care officer for Region 2 (Jackson, Hillsdale and Lenawee counties), where she advocates on behalf of residents of care facilities, adult nursing homes and retirement homes. Ahnuh works with the legal departments of Jackson`s south-central Michigan office.

Previously, Ahnuh held various positions with children, families and people with intellectual disabilities.
